We stumbled upon this restaurant thinking it was the previous pizza shop but looked like they closed down and opened Safaryan.
The owner was very kind and gave us some background information about him and his family's shop. It's a new Afghan cuisine restaurant with some Canadian faves such as Poutine and pizza.
The shawarma Poutine was awesome! I know we'll definitely going back for the Poutine again. The gravy was the right consistency and the taste was bang on.
I wasn't too fond of the shawarma plate I ordered. The potatoes needed more seasoning and the salad did not taste all that fresh. The portion was tooooo big for one person, I recommend sharing if you do get it.
Overall, if you're looking for a chill place with a quick bite to eat, this is your place! -

Worst shawarma ever! Avoid if you can.
The first time I walked in, I decided that I would take the time to drive to my usual spot (a solid 15 mins away) and walk away from the chance of trying this.
The second time I walked in was today and laziness won. I stayed. It was the worst decision of the day. First of all, the toppings options are basic and taste inauthentic. The hummus is super salty and everything else you could find at Harvey's (and Harvey's has better quality). The toppings are for burgers, not shawarma. The chicken was not at all fresh cut. They have a little stove cooker plugged in to keep the chicken "warm". I'm not convinced it works since the chicken was cold. The person behind the counter "toasted" the shawarma for a whopping 5 seconds.
When I bit into it, the entire sandwich was cold. I thought "maybe it'll get better". It didn't. The shawarma was absolutely terrible. I tried to eat it because I totally hoped it would get better. I was wrong. It got worse. I couldn't even finish it, and I was starving!
I'm never going back and I beg that others avoid the place as well. Maybe other items are better, but the shawarma definitely is not! -

I decided get some food for dinner and bought the shawarma dinner and tandoori chicken dinner on take out. I had to throw out both meal, as it was not fresh. The rice especially was disgusting, it's such as shame because Mediterranean food is such a great cuisine, these guy I am not sure what they are doing. I will not going back, I totally wasted by money and don't recommend this place to anyone.

Is the cleanliness of the bathroom the measurement of a restaurants food?
I say it is....in part
This place is open till 3am, clearly so they capture the crowd after the bars close. With complete certainty I can tell you our visit at 1pm revealed the bathroom was as it was left from the 3am close the night before.
My point is what? If you can't bother to clean your bathroom then what else are you not cleaning.
The food was okay, two stars is generous. -

I got the shawarma wrap and it was pretty good, not unique so it was your every day shawarma but good none the less. The shawarma poutine was very yummy as well, that in itself was something new to me despite that it looks like a mess. It tastes a lot better than it looks. The shawarma poutine is a local favorite for those coming back from a club since it's always open late.
